Scales - PLEASE READ BELOW!

Remember that all scales listed are the written pitch for each instrument - not concert pitch.  For example: C Major - all instruments will the play the scale starting on their own written pitch of “C” -- do not transpose to concert pitch.  Prepare scales slurred and tongued in sixteenth notes at quarter note equals 88 beats per minute.  All scales must be memorized.  Refer to the All-State Band requirements for how many octaves are required for each individual scale.

Percussion Equipment

Percussion equipment that is provided in the audition room includes 1 set of timpani (4) and a keyboard instrument.  The student or their respective school must provide all other percussion equipment.  This includes snare drums & stands, auxiliary instruments, timpani mallets, keyboard mallets, snare drum sticks, and any other piece of percussion equipment other than timpani and a keyboard instrument.  You may elect to bring and use your own timpani and keyboard instruments.
