Registration Information
•All students must be registered online via the district website: www.scmmea.com

•Registration Deadline for Auditions is Friday, October 30, 2009
•Last Day to Delete Auditions is Friday, November 6, 2009
Financial Information for Auditions
•Cost per audition is $7 - must be paid at auditions via cash, check, or PO payable to the South Central Missouri Music Educators Association (SCMMEA)
•Do not forget to include $10 fee for the Ernie Pratt Memorial Scholarship Fund.
•You must pay for each audition that is registered even if they do not audition.
The John East “Spirit of Orpheus” Award
• Do not forget to submit a nomination for the John East “Spirit of Orpheus” Award online when you register your students to audition for District Band. More information on this award can be found at www.scmmea.org - select the Band VP link.
Audition Location
•Auditions are Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Mtn. Grove HS starting at 4:30 pm
•MSHSAA Supervision requirements: 1 certified staff member from each school (not per district) must attend the event.
Clinic Information
•Clinic is Saturday, November 14, 2009 at SBU in Bolivar / seating begins at 7:45 am.
•Dr. Craig Fuchs will be the clinician for the Honor Band
•Mr. Skip Vandelicht will be the clinician for the Concert Band
Scales - PLEASE READ BELOW!
•Remember that all scales listed are the written pitch for each instrument - not concert pitch. For example: C Major - all instruments will the play the scale starting on their own written pitch of “C” -- do not transpose to concert pitch. Prepare scales slurred and tongued in sixteenth notes at quarter note equals 88 beats per minute. All scales must be memorized. Refer to the All-State Band requirements for how many octaves are required for each individual scale.
Percussion Equipment
Percussion equipment that is provided in the audition room includes 1 set of timpani (4) and a keyboard instrument. The student or their respective school must provide all other percussion equipment. This includes snare drums & stands, auxiliary instruments, timpani mallets, keyboard mallets, snare drum sticks, and any other piece of percussion equipment other than timpani and a keyboard instrument. You may elect to bring and use your own timpani and keyboard instruments.
All-State Qualifiers
Students selected for the district honor band and the first and second chairs of the concert band (all instruments) qualify to audition for the Missouri All-State Band.
